The one and only song that has made my musical dream come true. Being able to live off my music and dream was only made possible through the power of this song and Bieber.
I never knew. It was my first time working with a mega superstar and I had no idea what to take from it, what to believe and how to process what was going to happen to me or to him, Bieber! Wow..what a journey..
This song was written over multiple sessions. And multiple tries. Songwriter after songwriter came in to try and get on top of this track idea we had done.
It was Nasri Atweh that nailed it. I remember sliding through Rodneys Studio A at one point after Nasri had written it, at I hear something that made me think “OMG, I hope this lands on my desk again”.. It did. And Oh boy did I give it my all. For two days straight I was working on the demo. On the second day, Rodney came over to my house and we had a session on it. He sent it to Scooter and the Bieber dream team that same night and got a response right away. They loved the song. LOVED it. What a way to end the year 2011. The only thing now was for the love to continue into 2012 so we could get us a Justin Bieber placement on his sophomore album. The most important of albums. Where he goes from a boy, to a man. Well.. we returned to the studios in January 2012, and the Bieber camp still loved the song. In fact they scheduled a whole month to work at the studio. In February through March 2012 - the Bieber team occupied the Darkchild studios down in Hollywood, California and we worked tirelessly to not only make ALAYLM better, but to also make more placements happen
by beating the songs that were currently chosen. This was a nervewreckig time as most people in the world wanted to be on that album. Everybody tried to get songs on there but in the end - I made it on there with two placements. ALAYLM and She dont like the Lights. Rodney walked away with 4!! Such a great example of how to squeeze as much juice out of a situation as possible! Great work everybody, from Justin, Nasri, Rodney, Scooter.. the label. Wow. What a journey everything has been since this.

This was the first song Will and I worked on together. At the time, Scream and Shout was doing really well and they wanted a followup. Will asked me to reach out to my EDM friends for some beats and I hit up Sebastian Ingrosso from the Swedish House Mafia. He came by the studio and played some beats for us... and, we really caught a vibe on one produced by his artist Otto. Then, will and I got really silly and came up with lyrics (I even borrowed a line or two from another song I’d written). Then, Britney and I got into the studio and she did her magic. It was such a fun time!

This song was written as a part of a song contest or something in Italy, but when they wanted Nicole on the song I was asked to translate English lyrics. It was the first tine I’d ever done a translation, so it was challenging and fun at the same time. Once I came up with lyrics in English, I sent them back and they loved them. Then, Nicole and I recorded the vocals. They did an amazing job!
Written by P. Hilton, N.L Van De Wall, WELBORN ANTHONY III PRESTON, D. Carter. Released 2013. Paris wrote most of this with her then boyfriend, Afrojack (a good friend). Paris and I were flying on her private jet to Brazil for the weekend and she asked me to help her finish a song she was working on. She was still a party princess then and I can tell you that she knows how to have a Good Time. We went into the studio and finished it, and then the next time I heard anything the song was finished.
Written by Anthony Preston, B. Spears, L. Tolbert, J. Lopez, K.E. Harris, W. Adams. Released 2013. This was a fun day for sure. Britney and Jamie Lynn both came into he studio with all of their kids. Will and I had written the song already the day before, and they made tweaks to make it more personal to their relationship. Then we recorded everything. It was nice to see all of them together recording a song about their relationship.
